Biswajeet Roy, is a very well known name in and around Kolkata. He belongs to the famous Roychaudhary family, one of the biggest Zamidaar families of Kolkata. The entire family i staunch devotees of Ma Durga and Ma Kali. They own the biggest Kali Mandir and Biswajeet heads the trust of Kali Mandir .
However the family has been undergoing turbulent times… their business has not been doing well and the family loses the eldest son Sarvadaman. To the world Sarvadama went missing, but Biswajeet believes that his brother will come back, and till he does, he will hold fort.
The family purohit had predicted that the bad phase will pass….with the birth of a baby girl. Yashomati was pregnant at that time, and believed that the child in the womb would be an answer to her and her husband Biswajeet’s prayers. Unfortunately the child dies at birth and Yashomati is incapable of conceiving again. In such circumstances they find baby Rudra on the temple steps.. Initially Yashomati and Biswajeet accept the baby with open arms, but slowly Jaya (Biswajeet’s siter) poisons Yashomati against Rudra , saying that she could be Biswajeet’s illegitimate child … and this evokes ill feelings in Yashomati’s mind against Rudra.
