Do you remember Kya Kool Hain Hum? The 2005 Comedy movie where we had Tusshar Kapoor and Ritesh Deshmukh trying to take us on a hilarious ride, well it certainly did not go down very well with the critics or at the box office, but that has not deterred the makers Balaji Telefilms to come up with a sequel. Titled ‘Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum’, the sequel is set to get a little naughtier and explosive than the original.
Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum brings back the comic duo Tusshar Kapoor and Ritesh Deshmukh in lead roles and the female leads played by Isha Kopikaar and Neha Dhupia in the original have been replaced by Neha Sharma and Sarah Jane Dias. The sequel also marks the writer of the original, Sachin Yardi donning the director’s hat as well. Sangeeth Sivan who directed the original is not in the team behind the sequel. Kya Super Kool Hain Hum would also bring back Anupam Kher in a key role, he played a doctor in the prequel and Chunky Pandey, the yesteryear funny man is another prominent supporting actor in the film.
If the trailer is anything to go by, Kya Super Kool Hain Hum is one slapstick take on misspelled and mispronounced words, comedy of errors, funny idiosyncrasies, gender based jokes and also a ride of two typically funny men. The trailer goes on to use some montage of the cult Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham to illustrate the stark difference that it is not a movie aimed at families but to the youth and the modern day Indians.
Tusshar Kapoor is a struggling actor who acts as a model for various advertisements that are out rightly weird. Although he manages to use a Mac back home – must be a wealthy struggler. Ritesh Deshmukh is a struggling DJ who has a genuine struggle in pronouncing - s & k sounds in cognition. Apparently, he struggles with many other normal words. Some wardrobe malfunction, teensy glares and Rohit Shetty (the famed director of Golmaal series) appearing in a cameo, that is all we have for now apart from Ritesh being beaten up by women and a cute Pug possibly to advertise on behalf of Vodafone.
Kya Super Kool Hain Hum does seem to look like a blend of Hangover, American Pie and the Eurotrip genre of movies.
Produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor in association with ALT Entertainment, Kya Super Kool Hain Hum is set to release on 3rd August 2012. The editor of this semi adult semi young comic caper is Aarif Sheikh and the DoP is Ravi Walia.
Though the trailer does not show Bipasha Basu, as per reports from Bollywood, she is indeed in the film, possibly in a cameo. Kavin Dave, whose Bumboo recently bombed at the Box Office would play a small role and Angela Johnson, Mahru Sheikh are among the other cast members.
While we actually did not fall in love with the original, let us hope writer turned director Sachin Yardi offers a film that is watchable at the least. (Source: Bollywood Hungama)
