Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya Music Review

Any rom-com is partly based on the lead pair and partly on the music element of the movie. There is not much scope of a background score (to make an impact) in a rom com but there are certainly a lot of aspects that can be used to showcase the talent of a music director. For ‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya’, we do not have one but two music directors. The director duo Sachin Jigar may not be veterans in the industry but they do have a track or two to their credit that went on to become huge hits at the music charts and among people across the nation (the dance number ‘Party Abhi Baaki Hain’ from FALTU and the soundtrack for Shor In The City).

The music of ‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya’ has been generously done and redone into various versions. Perhaps intentionally, to cash in on more revenue but sadly the album does not come up as a surprise. Atif Aslam’s rendition of ‘Piya O Re Piya’ is just about acceptable (may be rejected by some) in the original as well as its sad version. There is a remix version of the song as well and it is only in this one that Atif Aslam makes the most of the octaves to showcase his singing abilities. It would have been much better had he only sung the remix version and someone else could have lent his voice for the other versions that would possibly be used in the film. Thankfully, Shreya Ghosal saves the other two versions from falling to dust but she had very little to do.

Mohit Chauhan is back with the song ‘Jeene De’ in ‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya’ after his phenomenal outing with ‘Rockstar’ and he does a good job. ‘Jeene De’ also has a coffee house version which is more impressive than the original.

Rom coms need an item song and ‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya’ could not have eliminated that from their album so we have ‘Fann Ban Gayi’ which is a blend of contemporary Bollywood and traditional Rajasthani music. The song is far away from the splendor of ‘Sheila’, colloquialism of ‘Munni’ and energy of ‘Chikni Chameli’. ‘Fann Ban Gayi’ is anything but a chartbuster in the making. It needed a lot more vibe and enthusiasm from the music directors to come up with a much better product. Despite having Sunidhi Chauhan lending her voice this item song will not impress any. ‘Pee pa ho gaya’ is another track on the album that caters to the audience who are in love with dance numbers.

‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya’ boasts of more versions of the songs than the total number of original ones that they have up their sleeves. Some remix versions are really good but the original ones would fall short of becoming a runaway hit or a chartbuster. They are just about okay and one would have to wait to see how the songs have been used in the movie to gauge if there is a twist in the tale.
