Ferrari Ki Sawaari Music Review

Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s productions have always had some hummable numbers, a few love songs and some beautiful melodies. Thanks to the music directors he has collaborated with, whether we look at Munnabhai series, Parineeta, 3 Idiots or go back to the days of 1942 A Love Story, music of his films have always been a hit. With Ferrari Ki Sawaari, Pritam comes on board along with some talented singers and writers including the likes of Sonu Nigam and Swanand Kirkire.

‘Maara Re’ is high on energy and simple in its composition. It is a song on cricket and whether or not it becomes the next anthem song for cricket lovers is for time to tell. There is a huge resonance with the tracks of Munnabhai series in ‘Maara Re’ and a horde of singers come together to pep things up including Sonu Nigam, Rana Majumdar, Aishwarya Nigam and Ashish.

Pritam’s composition would remind you of ‘Samjho Ho Hi Gaya’ from Lagey Raho Munnabhai and it seems that Chopra’s vision and music influence is at work here. Urmila Dhangar has sung this Marathi song which is an all out dance track. The song and the lyrics stay true to the Marathi music scene and the crux of the story.

‘Ae Mere Mann’ has the piano taking charge of the beginning. Swanand Kirkire does what he does best – pens down a song embedded in realism and that is poetry for the young and the old. Shyamantan Das signs it with élan and here is a boy to watch out for. ‘Ae Mere Mann’ is soulful number with a lot of sweetness and aspiration deeply engulfed into the words and when the violin seeps in, it becomes a wonderful journey.

Amitabh Bhattacharya (lyrics) and Priyani Vani (singer) team up with Pritam for ‘Good Night’. Supposedly a lullaby, Priyani sings it very sweetly just like a mother would have done it for her child. Amitabh’s lyrics are great and Pritam outdoes himself with the beautiful and cute composition.

‘Chal Ghoome’ brings up the fun quotient of the film with an upbeat composition. Shaan comes up with another brilliant performance and we have Boman Irani lending his voice as well. ‘Chal Ghoome’ may just go very well in the film. It is also the title track ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’. An all out fun number, it has a simple and an old school Bollywood feel to it as well.

‘Life Yeh Mausambi Si’ wraps things up with K Mohan doing a Mohit Chauhan gig and lyricists Satyanshu and Devanshu Singh have done a commendable job. There is ‘Rusy’s Theme’ as well. It is a sweet fusion of contemporary Bollywood and western classical.

‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’ is a soulful album, a tad different than what we have been listening to for a while. It is a welcome change and there is no song that can be regarded as an average or dissatisfactory experience.
