The Coal Mafia PreviewIndia is plagued with several scams and corruption scandals in current times and out of nowhere, The Coal Mafiaa comes up based on the burning nexus of politicians, Coal miners and the tussle between Mafias.
The Coal Mafiaa treads a known territory of how a handful of people exploit the natural resources for their selfish ends and can go to any extent to see a better tomorrow. That may not be in cognizance with greater good but these Mafias do not care. The Coal Mafiaa has an upright police officer played by Mukesh Khanna (the favorite Shaktimaan of yesteryear) who intends to finish off this perplexed network of criminals and a young man who wants to have a good life, played by debutant Ankit Nigotiya Gupta. The two warring Coal Mafias are played by Yashpal Sharma and Mukesh Tiwari. While Yashpal plays the role of a Coal Mafia with a heart and ethics, Mukesh is the bad man who goes to an extent of even blasting a mine of coal reserves for his selfish interest. There is a minister who promises to curb the menace of Coal Mafias but does nothing while the entire system of governance remains paralyzed due to a handful of influential people.
Directed by Ajay B. Kashyap, The Coal Mafiaa is written by Suresh Singh who is also the Executive Producer. It is being touted as a film based on a true story and being inspired from several real life incidents. Produced by Vishal Gupta, The Coal Mafiaa also stars Sudesh Beri, Aryan Vaid and yesteryear villain Shakti Kapoor possibly playing a good man.
The premise of the film is intriguing but the trailer was far from being impressive. Clichéd acting, poor music and dance drama minced with unrealistic action and loud dialogues are what could be made out from the teaser. The Coal Mafiaa has certainly got a lot of source material but the clips of the ultimate product are not encouraging. Little known Ajay B. Kashyap (Director) does not impress nor does the protagonist (Ankit Nigotiya Gupta) with his stony acting. Although there is little resource to carry out any critical analysis but when an item song comes up with poor music, choreography and a wannabe execution then there is not much that the audience can expect. All eyes are on Mukesh Khanna, Suresh Beri and Shakti Kapoor if they would have any scope of contribution. Mukesh Tiwari and Yashpal Sharma are both talented actors but we would have to wait and see if they can pull this off on their own shoulders. All these years they have been prominent character artistes but never have they catered to prominent central roles in a film before.
