Paan Singh Tomar is based on the real life of a man by the same name who had served the Indian Army in the early years of Independent India and later went on to become a National athlete winning numerous National level awards. Unfortunately and for some reasons the multitalented and patriotic man turned into one of the most feared and most wanted dacoits of Chambal.

Irrfan Khan plays Paan Singh Tomar and supporting him in the cast would be the beautiful Mahie Gill playing Indira and Vipin Sharma playing the character of Major Masand. The trailer takes us to the mid late nineteenth century in India when a new independent nation was yet to find a foothold and several people turned against the system in a rather unusual way.

While the story of Paan Singh Tomar is not known to normal Indians, Chambal has been famous for its dacoits and we would wait to discover more about the movie and the life of Paan Singh Tomar. It is said that he had several records of offenses and that his life can also be traced through his present generation of family members, yet Paan Singh Tomar does not find a reference in sports, army or the world of dacoits for normal Indians.

Directed by Tigmanshu Dutta, Paan Singh Tomar has been produced by Ronnie Screwwala and would be distributed by UTV Motion Pictures. The movie is eyeing an early March release and from what we could make out from the trailer, it must be a one of a kind movie.
