Sajid Khan is all set for another laugh riot in Housefull 2. The phenomenal box office success of a movie prompts most filmmakers to opt for a sequel and this is not limited to Bollywood alone. Housefull was a huge success in 2010. It may not have impressed the critics but as the director himself says that Hindi Film is not for the critics, he sticks true to his belief.

Housefull 2 brings together some of the most favorite stars of this era and some of the finest stars of yesteryears. We have four couples in the thick of the plot Akshay Kumar paired with Asin Thottumkal, John Abraham with Jacqueline Fernandez, Shreyas Talpade with Shazahn Padamsee and the newlywed (in real life) Riteish Deshmukh paired with Zarine Khan. Now the twist in the tale is that all the male characters are named Jolly and the fathers of the four brides are anything but jolly. Sajid Khan brings together the Kapoor brothers (Rishi – father of Asin’s Henna and Randhir – father of Jacqueline’s Bobby) and it should make way for some oldies to storm into the multiplexes just to catch a glimpse of these yesteryear heroes. Mithun Chakraborty plays the father of Zarine Khan’s Jlo and we have the witty Boman Irani playing the father of Shazahn’s Parul.

The plot revolves around the four lead couples who are in love and all set to get married. Incidentally they all end up in a house where the fathers drop in. What ensue are a laugh-a-thon and a series of brainless comedy. Do we expect genuine humor from Housefull 2? I don’t think so. To do justice and extend the scope of the comedy, producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director Sajid Khan has pulled in Johny Lever and Chunkey Pandey in supporting roles and there is a snake, a croc and some fights.

Housefull 2 is expected to hit the screens on 5th of April 2012 and the trailers have been launched with Karan Johar’s Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu. If nothing else, the sheer star cast of Housefull 2 and the hype from its prequel would be enough to draw in the crowds. Sajid Khan seems to have another money minter in his hands. Apparently he had learnt the hard way after the debacle of Heyy Baby.

Housefull 2 has been written by Sajid Khan, Tushar Hiranandani and Sajid-Farhad and the music for the film has been composed by Sajid-Wajid. Too many Sajids behind the scenes, that is. The choreography of the movie has been done by Sajid’s sister Farah Khan. I wonder why Shirish Kunder is not the editor but anyway Salim Sulaiman is the man with the scissors. Produced at about forty crores (Indian rupee), Housefull 2 would be distributed by Eros Entertainment.

Did I mention the hot Malaika Arora Khan would be featuring in an item number for the movie? Okay, so all those Munni fans can hold up their breaths to catch her in ‘Anarkali Disco Chali’. The video must be out in the next few days.
