Chaar Din Ki Chandni Preview

If the superstars are going heavy on the small screen, there are plenty of on screen stars foraying into the silver screen arena as well. Kulraj Randhawa has quite a fan following among the television audience and the dimpled beauty is all set for her third outing in Bollywood and her fifth feature film (she has done 2 Punjabi movies as well). While her acting skills are yet to be explored on the big screen, let us hope she doesn’t end up being another cute face that cannot act.

Tusshar and Kulraj have been cast together in Chaar Din Ki Chandni by Samir Karnik who also directed the pretty girl in Yamla Pagla Deewana. The movie seems to be a continuity of the genre and similar story telling of YPD and Samir is possibly expecting a similar success story at the box office. Well, what worked once may not work again and to compensate for the Deol Clan who made a family comeback with YPD, Samir has roped in a bandwagon of stars and well known names. Sample this, Anupam Kher, Om Puri, Johny Lever in a movie to ensure comedy and to strike a balance with sanity or insanity, as the case may be, there is the talented Sushant Singh and Mukul Dev. Chandrachur Singh reappears from somewhere after an exile and Anita Raj also manages to bag a role.

The plot is neither new nor surprisingly captivating. The narrative takes us through a wedding where a Rajasthani family and a Punjabi family bump into each other and besides Tusshar, Sushant, Mukul and Chandrachur also try to woo a fierce Punjaban (Kulraj) and what ensues form the comic crux of the story. Yet another “squeeze your belly and try to laugh” movie – if you wonder – I wouldn’t disagree. You can set your eyes for some quirky lines, rhyming couplets to induce smiles and the famous Jeetendra steps from the “Tohfa” days being performed by his son.

With a long line up of supporting actors, Samir would have no one to blame if the rom com falls flat. Tusshar has had some character roles to play over the years in multi starrers and has lost his fight to be an A Lister in Bollywood. Here he comes across as a solo protagonist after almost a decade and his fans would only hope he doesn’t waste the opportunity. If the teasers are anything to go by, the movie promises to have some moments that may work in its favor but it also throws across simple humor and at best, some attempted funny moments. At a time when Delhi Belly and 3 Idiots have raised the bar of comedy movies in Bollywood, it would be interesting to see if Samir Karnik lives up to his Yamla Pagla Deewana reputation. The film looks like one straight out of Priyadarshan’s comedy genre and if that is the case, Chaar Din Ki Chandni may be just over a few years late in its release.
