Thankfully, Jagdish Rajpurohit credits the writer of ‘L’emmerdeur’, Francis Veber for his upcoming movie ‘Bumboo’ which is the remake of the 1973 blockbuster French comedy film. Now that we have officially acknowledged that Bumboo is an adaptation of its French cousin, let us have a look into what RCL Motion Pictures has in store for us at the end of March.

Bumboo is a comedy that revolves primarily around a contract killer (read hitman) played by the veteran Sharat Saxena and a photojournalist played by Kavin Dave. Sharat has been assigned a job which takes him to a hotel. Kavin’s boss expresses his desire to have footage of a presumed assassination which leads Kavin to the same hotel and into the adjacent room of Sharat’s. Kavin is in love and upon getting rejected attempts to commit suicide. His failed suicide attempt prompts Sharat to start caring for him since a suicide would lead the police into the hotel and Sharat would be in danger. Consequently the assassination attempt would also be foiled. Once under Sharat’s supervision, Kavin starts one hell of a ride and every minute instance leads to another one which eventually messes up everything for every character.

Bumboo’s philosophy, same as that of its French cousin, is that we all bump into someone in our lifetime who is a pain and messes things up for us. ‘L’emmerdeur’ had been remade in English in the year 2008. Bumboo is slightly tweaked from the original to suit the Indian audience. For example, the character of Kavin who is a photographer here was played by Jacques Brel in the original where the character was a salesman and had recently been dumped by his wife. Also, the first suicide attempt which only leads Kavin to fall down into the bathtub had actually flooded the hotel in the original.

Well, Bumboo promises to be a comic and exciting ride with the likes of Sharat Saxena, Kavin Dave, Sudhir Pandey, Sanjay Mishra. Sumit Kaul and Mandy Takhar. The Director Jagdish Rajpurohit is also essaying a small role in the film. The music of the film has been composed by Faiz Ur Rehman and Santokh Singh, Suvir Nath is the editor and Dhruv Dhalla has composed the background score. The adapted screenplay and dialogues have been written by Jagdish Rajpurohit and Kavin Dave.

Bumboo is all set to hit the theaters on 30th March 2012.
