May 15th Written Update - Summary

Anandi is being praised by the Chief Minister at the function. Then Anandi is asked to make a speech. She recites a poem she had read when she was young. She talks about child marriage. She says that this malpractice has prompted her to do something good. She says that her prize is for all the people of j She thanks all who supported her and made an ordinary girl like her reach this level.

She thanks her school teacher and her Dadisa. Then she thanks her parents-in-law. Then she hopes that all will continue to support her in future. She says that she wants all women and girls in Jaitser to become independent. For that she wants to stop child marriage. To do this, girls need to study and not spend time in doing domestic chores. Education will lead to change. All this has to happen in other villages besides Jaitser. She thanks the CM for coming to Jaitser.

CM praises Anandi and Jaitser again. Then he announces the first Collector of Jaitser district. His name is Shivraj Shekhar. All are eagerly waiting to see him. Anandi realizes that he is the same person who had saved her when she was in the horse carriage. Even Dadisa recognizes him as the person with whom Anandi had come on horseback. She informs the same to Bhairon.

Shivraj Shekhar says that he believes in work, not words. He asks all to support him. He praises Anandi too. He says that this is the first time that he has become the Collector of a district that has become a district just a few minutes back. Dadisa likes the Collector and finds him young and good looking. Bhairon says that there is no need to think so much ahead as the Collector may be married. The Collector says that he will do all for the development of Jaitser as a district. He says that anybody can come to him for anything at any time. This is because his office does not close at 6.

Next, the school girls of Anandi’s school perform a folk dance to thank all and to bring the function to an end. All are enjoying. They are clapping along with the music. Shivraj and Anandi are sitting on either side of the Chief Minister. They look at each other and smile. They are also enjoying watching the dance.
