The first thing that comes to my mind while reading 5 Ghantey Mein 5 Crore is the 2011 Hollywood comedy “30 Minutes Or Less” starring Jesse Eisenberg. But neither is the former a comedy nor is it even close to being a big production!

5 Ghantey Mein 5 Crore follows Vikram, played by Shawar Ali, and Soniya, the Pakistani beauty Meera, on their quest for 5 Crore Rupees, upon receiving which the lovey-dovey couple would vanish to Singapore to lead a happy and romantic life. They have for some unknown reasons managed to get Muqaadam, played by Rashid Khan to pay up the money. Now, from what has been revealed about the plot, Muqaadam works as an accountant for Sultan Corporation, the company of Sultan, played by Ranjeet. Why would Muqaadam pay the money to Vikram and Soniya is not yet known. How would he manage the funds is also a question unanswered by the filmmakers. Ranjeet’s character is also in the dark and there isn’t enough information about his role.

The story starts with Vikram and Soniya waiting for their money and they plan to murder Muqaadam after he has paid up. The couple is in a farm house where Soniya is a permanent resident. Karan Oberoi, played by Abhishek Kumar, bumps into the couple since his car breaks down near their house and things turn topsy-turvy when Muqaadam’s hot girlfriend Reshman, played by Kavita Radheshyam arrives to make sense of what in the world is going on. The movie promises romance, twists, betrayals and even a murder. It is touted to be a suspense thriller and we got to wait and watch how much it delivers.

For a starter, I need to question the concept where a man asks for 5 Crores when his love interest stays in his farm house that is a well decked up two storey house in the middle of nowhere. Secondly, in 2012, what is the value of 5 Crore that a couple would dream of walking out of their luxurious house, commit a murder and then dream of living a luxurious life in Singapore. Vikram is a chartered accountant by profession hence wouldn’t he be heading off to a far better life, financially and socially, without giving into criminal activities? Well, some Bollywood movies are always beyong logical reasoning.

To give the movie some credit, Meera is looking hot and seductive and the less said about the rest of the cast, the better. 5 Ghantey Mein 5 Crore is written and directed by Faisal Saif and is produced by Dr. Joginder Singh Padam and Dr. Charanpaul Singh of J.S. Movie Entertainment. Tejas Dattani is the one behind the camera and the movie boasts of songs sung by as many as 7 singers as the songs have been written by as many as 7 lyricists. Music is out of Worldwide Records and the movie is set to release on 24th February 2012.

Well, let’s wait and see if Meera, as a hot and seductive babe who is also a bit psychotic in the movie, can weave magic on the audience and the box office?
