It was indeed jeopardy to remake the Amitabh Bachchan’s Don. During 1970s and 1980s this movie along with the movies AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY, SHOLAY, TRISHUL, MUQADDAR KA SIKANDER and DEEWAR changed the definitions of movie making. But congratulations to Farhan Akhtar, who has taken the risk of reproducing Don with leading role of Shah Rukh Khan.

You can watch Don 2 online, and notice that Farhan had decided to take the idea of Paanch saal baad. In fact the sequel of any hit movie should not be tried if there is no action-packed plot to describe. To make Don 2, Farhan really come up with altogether a new idea with lots of creativity and imaginations with an eye-catching visuals, typical action and Hollywood style. The pure desire was to produce the sequel absolutely better than the original.

It was obvious that one could have guessed in the first movie as it was a remake of old DON, but this time it is just difficult to reveal the next action of Don. And it is the beauty of this sequel. The shrewd nature of Don became obvious as the movie progresses. He has a plan and you can never afford to engage with him. It is same for Roma’s [Priyanka Chopra] turbulent association with Don. It is a typical Tom n Jerry game between them.

If look at Don 2 as one-odd-creation, then it is the right deal to attract the viewers with its elegant story, lively and brisk moves, and SRK at his best form. Initial part of pre-interval and the segments after interval are diametrically opposite. The initial part is insipid whereas the second part is full of life. There is a lack of excitement in pre-interval; but the post-interval portions keeps you engaged.

Don 2 set in motion at Thailand and shifts the plot to Malaysia. After taking in custody of Don [SRK] the police [Om Puri, Priyanka Chopra] launch him to a jail in Malaysia. In the jail he also sees his old rival Vardhan [Boman Irani]. Along with Vardhan, Don formulates a plan to flee the jail, and both of them successfully escaped the jail. From there they travel to Berlin via Zurich. This time they have decided to rob the currency plates Though, Don knew that it is an impracticable mission, but to succeed in it he ask a hacker [Kunal Kapoor] to assist them.

Farhan Akhtar cemented his position as one of the Bollywood’s trendy narrator by directing Don 2. It wouldn’t be erroneous to state that Don 2 redefines slick in Bollywood. The script of the movie could have been little tidy. Due to the plot of urbanization in the story and the drama in the second half, the movie is all-hit in the spectators with the international taste. The climax can be little easy for the normal spectators to decode. But one thing is sure that Don 2 sets a new trend in the Bollywood. If you look at it with a traditional approach then it may find little hard to digest Don 2.

The dialogue Don 2 can be juggle up with those in original form of Bachchan’s DON, the dialogues are appropriate to a variety of appearances and state of affairs of the SRK. The delivery of dialogue by the Don is outstanding with master touch. The dialogues are trendy, crazy, humorous and easy to pronounce. They have the potential to become new taglines in the near future, like we can chant today, ‘Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahin, na-mumkin hain’.

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy disappointed in the movie as the music is the only weak point in it. There is a vitality and zing in the music but it doesn’t impresses instantaneously. The film like Don 2 requires far better music as Farhan Akhtar made it excellent. Jason West’s appears stunning with cinematography. The stunts and the sequences are extravagant in the Don 2, which is delightful and has the shooting in Thailand, Malaysia, Germany and Switzerland.

This is a comeback of SRK’s in negative roles, which he played it during his initial carrier movies like ANJAAM, BAAZIGAR and DARR. His role in Don 2 is of bad man and charming Villain. His personality is depicted as wicked and immoral, though eye-catching simultaneously. SRK really justified it. In the film SRK has portrayed in different appearances from a person with uncombed hair and stubble to charming gentleman. There is no hesitation saying Don 2 is the best action movie of SRK so far.

Priyanka’s acting of superior quality and it seems that she returns to her usual role as Roma in Don 2. She has played a character of a revenge seeker angry female who is equally fuming and dangerous. Lara Dutta’s role is fascinating and appealing, but there is something missing in her character.

Kunal Kapoor is honest bust hasn’t got space to show his abilities. It seems that powerful actor Om Puri is not utilized properly. Boman Irani is in his usual form. Once more he does really good acting. Nawab Shah utilized the opportunity of Don 2 and excels in his bad role. Alyy Khan acted in a natural way. Sahil Shroff in his short stint showed his presence. This time Hrithik Roshan does a cameo.

Despite its first plain hour, after you watch Don 2 it takes you into an enthralling experience in the post-interval portions. With its casting and the hype it created, Don 2 lived up to the expectations. The script could’ve been more organized; still the movie is all set to create another record during the festive season of Christmas and New Year.
